Our History
ProCure was founded in 2005 by John Cameron, PhD, a particle physicist who is among the pioneers in proton therapy. Dr. Cameron was instrumental in the development of the Midwest Proton Radiotherapy Institute, the third proton therapy center to open in the United States. ProCure was founded to carry out his mission: to improve the lives of patients with cancer by increasing access to proton therapy.
Dr. Cameron brought together a skilled senior management team of proton therapy experts that had been involved in the construction and operation of centers in the United States and internationally. He chose as its leader Hadley Ford, CEO, who left a senior position at Banc of America to bring his business acumen to ProCure and help turn a mission into reality.
Today, ProCure is the only company in the world with two centers open, one under construction, three in development, and a Training and Development Center that provides before-the-job training for all aspects of proton therapy treatment and patient care. Our first center opened in Oklahoma City on July 8, 2009 and our second center opened in suburban Chicago on Oct. 19, 2010. Our center in New Jersey is on track to open in early 2012. Other centers are in development in Seattle, Detroit, and South Florida.
